There is an entire team of professionals working hard to ensure drinking water remains of the highest quality. More than one million tests and measurements are performed on drinking water throughout the year. Nearly one-hundred different substances are monitored on a regular basis to ensure that drinking water meets the rigorous standards set by the Federal, State and County governments.
Watch this part of the video about sampling.
Some monitoring is done continuously by meters at the water treatment plants. Other monitoring is done by staff at designated sites in the distribution system. The designated locations are selected to represent the water quality throughout the distribution system. The samples are collected and then taken to a laboratory where they are tested for a variety of substances.
Results of the sampling are compiled each year and made available to customers. Click here find the report called an Annual Water Quality Report or Consumer Confidence Report for your area.
